Amy Becker knows what it feels like to live with foot pain. For years, she struggled with plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and high arches — and like many of her customers today, she spent far too long settling for shoes that didn’t help. When she finally discovered footwear that made a real difference, it didn’t just change how she walked — it reshaped her future.
In 2015, Amy and her husband Fred purchased a long-standing Mount Dora shoe store with one simple mission: to help people walk better and feel better, one pair at a time. Amy brought her years of retail experience and her heart for helping others — shaped by her time as a teacher — into a business built on personal connection. Fred, who left a successful career in banking to join the adventure, helped grow the operation behind the scenes while Amy led with her passion for people.
Together, they transformed the store into what is now Becker’s Best Shoes — a warm, welcoming place where every customer is greeted with kindness, fitted with care, and sent out the door feeling more confident and more comfortable.
Because here, it’s never just about shoes. It’s about helping people move through life with less pain, more ease, and a whole lot of heart.

Amy is the face you’ll often see out front — greeting customers, helping with fittings, and sharing her passion for comfort-first fashion. Her background in teaching and personal experience with foot pain give her an extraordinary level of empathy and insight. Fred runs the operational side of the business, ensuring that every shoe, every system, and every service is backed by real care and attention to detail.
Together with their close-knit team — many of whom have been with them since the beginning — they’ve created a place where finding the right shoes isn’t stressful… it’s personal.
